Optimum air circulation and climate regulation

Fan motors are essential components in commercial vehicles that are responsible for the ventilation and air conditioning of the vehicle interior. They ensure that the air circulates in the vehicle, which is important both for the comfort of the occupants and for the functionality of the vehicle. The fan motors from DT Spare Parts offer customised solutions for air circulation and air conditioning in commercial vehicles.

In the new PS Tips video, Parts Specialist Niklas from Diesel Technic gives practical hints and tips on fan motors. Various designs are presented and a comparison of newer and older models is shown.

The DT Spare Parts range includes around 90 articles on the subject of “fan motor”. These can be found in the Diesel Technic Partner Portal. Among the, there are adjusting motors, fans, fan motors, interior blowers, regulators for fan motors, repair kits and resistors. Thanks to these versatile designs and other accessories, a wide variety of vehicle models can be served. The spare parts are suitable for the brands DAF, Fiat, Ford, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Scania and Volvo.

Some models are balanced using special clamps or balancing holes on the fan wheels to minimise vibrations and thus ensure even greater reliability. “However, this is not the case for every fan motor, as it depends on the individual production,” explains Parts Specialist Niklas. „However, the product quality is not impaired if the brackets or holes are missing.”

Modern fan motors work together with the vehicle’s automatic climate control components to maintain a constant temperature. Thanks to the infinitely variable control, the output of the fan motor can be flexibly adapted to the driver’s needs and the outside temperature.

DT Spare Parts also offers solutions for older vehicles. Here, the fan speed is regulated via a resistor, which is placed in the air flow in these vehicles to prevent overheating. However, if there is dirt in the fan system, the resistor may overheat, causing the fan to only operate at maximum speed. Before replacing the resistor, which is usually quite labour-intensive, it is worth checking the function of the rotary fan switch.

Regular maintenance of the ventilation system is important to ensure that it functions optimally. This includes cleaning the ventilation ducts and replacing filters.
