Tips & tricks:
During replacement, care must be taken that the correct cable lengths, (refer to manufacturer’s specifications), colours and ends are fitted.

Removal
- Tilt cab or open bonnet (engage the parking brake!).
- Remove the cover of the cables.
- Loosen the grey cable from the cover (the barbed hook must be folded in).
- Remove the Bowden cable from the gear selector lever using special pliers (Volvo 9990091) or a suitable tool.
Important: The Bowden cable will be damaged if the cable is bent in. - Remove the cover for the Bowden cable from the regulator housing.
- Detach the Bowden cable from lever of the gear shift guide
Installation
- Important: First connect Bowden cables in the regulator housing!
Install and clamp the Bowden cable. The Bowden cable for the gear selector lever (grey) comes in the upper Bowden cable pass-through, which is marked in blue on the regulator housing. - Route the Bowden cable in the vehicle.
Important: The routing varies according to the type of vehicle (observe manufacturer’s specifications).
Do not twist together or bend Bowden cables. - Install the Bowden cables in the gear selector lever.
- Secure Bowden cable and check for smooth operation.
- Mount the cover for the Bowden cables in the controller housing.
- Mount the cover for the Bowden cables in the gear selector lever.
- Tilt cab back down or close bonnet.
After installation, the following functions must be checked:
a. Is it possible to tilt the cab again without any problem?
b. Do the Bowden cables return to the correct position after tipping the cab?
c. Can one engage the gears using normal strength?
Note: If gears are difficult to engage, check again the correct installation of the Bowden cables intended for
the vehicle. Do not grease Bowden cables!
