The main bearing kit 1.33221 consists of 14 halves. The shaft pinions run in the compound main bearings which define the rotation axis of the crankshaft. The bearings are used to enable moving parts a wear-free rotation and, furthermore, to support and guide them within the engine. The surfaces are separated locally by an oil film that is pressed through a hole in the storage.

As the hydro mount is heavily polluted and overloaded by various forces, a safe and long-lasting engine operation is only possible with high-quality bearing halves.
