The axles and shafts are supported and guided by the wheel bearings, which means that the wheels turn easily on the axles with little friction. The radial or axial forces of the wheels caused by driving, braking and turning corners are absorbed by the wheel bearings.

The basic components of the wheel bearings are:

Outer and inner ring with hardened steel raceways
Rolling elements (tapered rollers)
Cage that holds the rollers in position

Before assembling the bearing, it is important to check and clean the assembly positions. The assembly should only be done with approved assembly tools and an appropriate press. Once assembled, you must also make sure that the connecting ring is sitting correctly – it should be locked in both wheel bearings.

The wheel hub must be aligned with a lifting tool and tightened with the torque specified by the manufacturer. We recommend to check the play of the wheel bearing after a test drive and adjust it if necessary.
